I was hooked as a 10-year-old watching a builder renovating our family home in Wellington, New Zealand. The fascination of power tools, accompanied with numerous hours building tree houses as a child, led me into my apprenticeship.
After completing my time as a carpenter, I moved to Melbourne for some overseas experience. I worked for two companies in Melbourne – one in commercial formwork, and another specialising in bespoke furniture using recycled Tasmanian oak. It was from this that my appreciation for fine finishing and sustainability grew.
After 3 years in Melbourne, my love for large cities drew me to London. I found myself a role as a carpenter for a company specialising in prime residential high-end builds, in some of London’s most prestigious neighbourhoods.
After several years, I worked my way into a project managing role. I thoroughly enjoyed working with people and developing the strong team bonds required in order to tackle the challenges of the construction industry and meet customer satisfaction.
With success on several projects varying from penthouse apartments, to grade II star listed Victorian terraces, I decided it was time to venture out on my own.
At Beehive, I have continued my passion for the industry, working closely with clients, designers and subcontractors.
Outside of the hive, as a native New Zealander, my passion for sports and rugby goes without saying. I also enjoy the outdoors and a spot of fishing.
